Starting in March 2025, residents of Monaco, along with those from France, Italy, and other visa-exempt nations, will be required to secure an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for short visits to the UK. The British government is introducing this system, akin to the US ESTA, to regulate the entry of tourists and short-term visitors more effectively.
Applicants must apply for the ETA online or through a specialized app, with a processing fee of 10 pounds (approximately 12 euros). The authorization, once granted, will remain valid for two years, allowing for multiple entries into the UK for periods up to six months. The ETA covers various purposes including tourism, family visits, business activities, and short-term educational pursuits.
This initiative aims to strengthen the UK's border security and improve the oversight of individuals entering the country, ensuring better management of both security risks and immigration control.
