Tragic Train Accident at Monaco-Monte-Carlo Station Claims Woman's Life

A tragic event unfolded at the Monaco-Monte-Carlo train station on Monday morning, when a woman in her forties was struck and killed by a train destined for Nice. The incident occurred at approximately 08:45, with reports indicating that the woman fell onto the tracks as the train was passing through the station. Monaco firefighters responded promptly to the scene but were unable to save her; she was pronounced dead at the location.

The local authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the details of the incident, including whether it was an accident or a deliberate act. In the meantime, train service between Nice and Ventimiglia was suspended in both directions, causing significant disruptions. The station itself was also temporarily closed to the public as police set up barricades to manage the situation and ensure the safety of other passengers.

Following the incident, a psychological support unit was set up to aid witnesses and others affected by the distressing event. SNCF, the national railway company, has encouraged anyone needing support to contact the unit at 0800 120 821. Train services were expected to resume by early afternoon as the community begins to recover from the morning’s tragic events.
