Prince Albert Reaffirms Monaco's Aid for Rebuilding Storm-Damaged Alpes-Maritimes Valleys

Two years following the devastation caused by Storm Alex in the Alpes-Maritimes, HSH Prince Albert of Monaco has reaffirmed the principality's commitment to aiding the recovery of the impacted valleys. In the immediate aftermath of the disaster in October 2020, Monaco provided financial support aimed at restoring and preserving the cultural heritage across the Roya, Vésubie, Tinée, and Moyen Var valleys. This included a partnership with the Fondation du Patrimoine, channeling three million euros into 30 reconstruction projects to repair historic structures and infrastructure.

During a visit to the region on September 10, Prince Albert II, accompanied by Prefect Hugues Moutouh and other local dignitaries, reviewed the progress of these initiatives. The visit underscored Monaco’s ongoing commitment to the region, showcasing the principality’s role in providing both logistical and humanitarian aid immediately following the storm. The Prince's presence highlighted the deep, enduring ties between Monaco and the Alpes-Maritimes, emphasizing a shared resilience and the importance of solidarity in overcoming such catastrophic events.

Looking ahead, Prince Albert is scheduled to attend the inauguration of key projects financed by Monaco’s contributions in the coming weeks. These events will mark significant milestones in the valleys' path to recovery, symbolizing the fruitful outcome of Monaco’s substantial support and collaboration with local entities in the Alpes-Maritimes. This ongoing partnership reflects the principality's dedication to regional solidarity and cultural preservation in the face of natural disasters.
