HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco continued his engagement in Rome, Italy, on Friday, September 27, following the reception of the prestigious Magna Grecia Prize. The day commenced with a significant event as Prince Albert inaugurated new administrative premises for the Monaco Embassy in Italy. His visit also included participation in a meeting with members of the Italy-Monaco bilateral friendship section at the Italian Parliament, underscoring the deep diplomatic ties between the two nations.
During his stay, Prince Albert paid a visit to the historic Saint-Louis-des-Français church, where he unveiled a commemorative plaque in honor of Prince Louis I of Monaco, a former ambassador of France to the Holy See, who was laid to rest there in 1701. Additionally, a second plaque was revealed at Palazzo Corsini, once the residence of Prince Louis I and currently part of Italy’s national art collection. This visit also allowed Prince Albert to view a painting from the collection of Prince Jacques I of Monaco, highlighting historical and cultural connections.
The afternoon was marked by the 15th anniversary of the Italian branch of the Prince Albert II Foundation, celebrated through the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, the world’s oldest scientific academy. This collaboration symbolizes a commitment to advancing global sustainability challenges, emphasized further during a conference titled “Building Tomorrow: The Value of Ethics and Pragmatism in Environmental Sustainability.” The day concluded with a gala dinner at Palazzo Colonna, supporting the environmental initiatives of the Prince Albert II Foundation.
