Lionel Beffre, the recently appointed Minister of Interior of Monaco, embarked on an official visit to the Corps des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Monaco last Friday, underscoring his commitment to the principality's emergency and safety services. His tour commenced at the La Condamine Fire Station, where he was received by Lieutenant Colonel Maxime Yvrard, the Fire Brigade Chief, and Colonel Tony Varo, the Superior Commander of the Public Force. During his visit, Beffre inspected the personnel, who showcased their new work and firefighting attire.
The minister was briefed in detail about the operations command center, the event management hub, and the advanced equipment used by the fire brigade. His itinerary included observing various field exercises that demonstrated the skill and readiness of Monaco’s specialized units. Notable among these was the utilization of the SAFFIRE system, designed for fire smoke simulation and reconnaissance training, alongside other elite groups like the High-Risk Rescue Intervention Group (GSIP), and the Reconnaissance and Command Assistance Drone (DRAC).
The visit also featured a practical demonstration at sea with the fire and rescue boat ‘Prince Jacques’ in Port Hercule, highlighting the capabilities of Monaco’s maritime emergency response. The day concluded with a demonstration by the Technological Risk Intervention Group (GIRT) at the Fontvieille Fire Station. Minister Beffre expressed his gratitude and commendation for the brigade’s professionalism by signing the Fire Brigade’s Golden Book, a gesture that marked his appreciation for their dedicated service to the safety of Monaco.
