Nearly 900 Monégasques convened at Princess Antoinette Park alongside the Princely Couple and their children for the cherished annual “U Cavagnëtu” picnic, held on Saturday, September 7. The evening commenced with greetings from Mayor Georges Marsan and the Communal Council, who welcomed attendees and the Princely Family to this significant community event.
The gathering featured an outdoor mass officiated by Archbishop Dominique-Marie David, with musical accompaniment from the choir ‘U Cantin d’A Roca’ who performed after the Monegasque National Anthem. Post-mass, participants enjoyed a selection of local cuisine beneath the olive trees, including socca, barbecued dishes, and the Ligurian specialty fresciœi di baccalà, amidst a convivial atmosphere enhanced by a jazz quartet.
This year’s picnic also introduced a vibrant dance party and a children’s workshop focusing on crafting picnic baskets, adding a fresh dynamic to the festivities. As the summer season draws to a close, this event continues to foster a strong sense of community and tradition among Monaco’s residents, celebrating both new and longstanding customs.
