Monaco's Stade Louis II to Host Fifth Annual Fight AIDS Cup Match

The Stade Louis II in Monaco is set to host the fifth edition of the Fight AIDS Cup on Wednesday, January 22, at 17:30. This charity football match, organized by the FIGHT AIDS MONACO association led by HSH Princess Stéphanie, will see the Barbagiuans and Cirque FC compete in an event marked by sport, solidarity, and a tribute to Jean Petit, a revered figure in Monegasque football. The match, featuring retired football luminaries, will also include a special homage to Petit, with his family initiating a symbolic kick-off and the presentation of the “Jeannot Petit” trophy to the standout Barbagiuans player.

The occasion will be graced by HSH Prince Albert II, the honorary president of the Barbagiuans, and managed by Louis Ducruet, president of the team. The event's heightened significance is bolstered by the presence of Patrice Evra, the event’s first official sponsor and a former captain of the French national team. Evra, who began his distinguished career in Monaco, will participate as a player, aiming to inspire resilience and hope. Christian Karembeu, a 1998 World Cup winner, will also feature, representing Cirque FC.

Christophe Glasser, the Director of FIGHT AIDS MONACO, emphasized the Fight AIDS Cup's role in promoting inclusion and fighting discrimination. The event not only aims to unify the football community but also to enhance awareness and generate crucial funding for people living with HIV. The community is encouraged to attend this significant event at Stade Louis II, supporting a cause that deeply impacts the local and global fight against AIDS.
