Monaco's Oceanographic Museum Unveils Mediterranean's Elusive Underwater Secrets

In an engaging collaboration with Andromède Océanologie, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Monaco Explorations, and the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, a special preview screening of "Cap Corse: The Mystery of the Rings" is scheduled for October 21 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the museum. The event, open to the public with prior registration by October 16, will feature an appearance by renowned marine biologist and explorer, Laurent Ballesta, enhancing the experience for attendees.

Directed by Yann Rineau and co-authored with Ballesta and Aurine Crémieu, the documentary explores the enigmatic underwater formations off the coast of Cap Corse. These formations consist of over a thousand circular rings, each extending up to 20 meters in diameter and located at depths beyond 100 meters. This phenomenon, unprecedented in the Mediterranean, has sparked extensive scientific curiosity and investigation.

The exploration is led by Ballesta and his team, using advanced technology such as submarines and underwater stations to study these peculiar structures and the rich biodiversity they host. This screening, supported by key environmental and scientific entities, offers a unique insight into the cutting-edge marine research being conducted in collaboration with Monaco-based institutions, highlighting the principality's ongoing commitment to marine conservation and scientific research.
