This event also marked the debut of Samuel Vuelta-Simon, the newly appointed Secretary of State for Justice and Director of Judicial Services in Monaco.
During the ceremony, key speeches were delivered by several high-ranking officials including Francis Jullemier-Millasseau, President of the Court of Appeal, and Stéphane Braconnier, President of the Supreme Court. Braconnier emphasized the changing dynamics of the judiciary's role, underlining the necessity for judges to remain adaptable and innovative while upholding the law to fortify the principality’s legal framework. Additionally, Jullemier-Millasseau provided insights into the judiciary's activities over the past year, highlighting an uptick in criminal, correctional, economic, and financial cases.
The day commenced with a traditional Mass at Monaco’s cathedral, emphasizing the integral role of justice in promoting societal peace, as noted by Archbishop Dominique-Marie David. Attorney General Stéphane Thibault also outlined the judicial priorities for the coming year, focusing on enhancing the efficiency of financial crime investigations, combating violence against women, and bolstering environmental protections.
