A charity dinner in Monaco, hosted by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of the easy family of brands, successfully raised 102,000 euros for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation. The event, held at the Stelios Foundation Conference Hall, saw the participation of 60 philanthropists and parents, along with HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, who chairs the Award. The evening's proceeds, initially amounting to 51,000 euros from the attendees, were matched by the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation to double the total contribution.
The funds raised will bolster the Award's mission to empower young individuals aged 14 to 24 across more than 120 countries, including Monaco. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, established in 1956 by the late Prince Philip, has been instrumental in developing essential life skills in over 1.1 million youths, such as resilience, creativity, and problem-solving, thereby significantly impacting their personal development and community engagement.
The involvement of local educational institutions like the International School of Monaco and the British School of Monaco highlights the Award’s extensive reach and influence. Sir Stelios expressed his enthusiasm about supporting an initiative that has a longstanding legacy of nearly 70 years in fostering the growth and development of young people worldwide.
