Monaco Legend Group (MLG) has solidified its status in the global watch auction market, securing the fourth position in the 2023 rankings by Every Watch. This achievement highlights MLG's strategic finesse and commitment to quality, distinguishing it from larger rivals like Christie’s, Phillips, and Sotheby’s through its selective approach of hosting just two physical auctions annually. This method has proven effective, with MLG boasting an impressive average sales price of $95,752 per lot across 539 lots, ranking second highest in the industry.
2024 continues to be a promising year for MLG, especially with the successful spring Exclusive Timepieces sale and the introduction of a new online-only auction in July. The appointment of Corrado Materelli, a seasoned watch dealer, as Deputy Chairman of the watch department further positions MLG for future successes. As MLG gears up for the upcoming October Exclusive Timepieces sale at Le Meridien Beach Plaza Hotel on October 19th and 20th, anticipation builds within the luxury watch community.
The October auction will showcase a meticulously curated selection of rare watches, including a highly coveted Patek Philippe reference 2438/1R, one of the first waterproof perpetual calendars, and a rare steel Rolex Day-Date known for its unique 'tropical' dial. A standout piece is the Rolex Daytona reference 6241, dubbed the “John Player Special,” which encapsulates the luxury and heritage of motorsports. These pieces, among others, promise to captivate collectors and enthusiasts at what is set to be a landmark event for MLG.
