Monaco Government Launches Free Training on Targeted Financial Sanctions

In a proactive step to bolster its defenses against financial crimes, the Monegasque government has introduced a series of free training sessions, focusing on the implementation of international Targeted Financial Sanctions. These sessions, orchestrated by the Budget and Treasury Department in collaboration with the Economic Development Department and the Monegasque Financial Security Authority, are part of Monaco's ongoing efforts to curb money laundering, terrorist financing, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Targeted primarily at professionals within the financial sector and other related industries such as insurance, real estate, yachting, jewelry, legal consulting, and accounting, these monthly workshops are designed to enhance the expertise required to adhere to both Monegasque and global financial sanction regulations. The training covers essential topics including the local financial sanctions regime, procedures for the freezing of funds, the responsibilities of competent authorities, and navigating the dedicated fund-freezing website.

The sessions are scheduled to occur on the first Thursday of each month at the Budget and Treasury Department, situated at 12 Quai Antoine 1er, Monaco. Notable upcoming dates include November 7, 2024, December 5, 2024, January 9, 2025, and February 6, 2025. Participation is strictly by registration, with a cap of 10 attendees per session to ensure a focused and interactive environment. Interested professionals are advised to secure their spot by emailing dbt.geldefonds@gouv.mc.
