The Institut Monégasque de Formation aux Professions Judiciaires (IMFPJ) recently hosted a significant forum at One Monte-Carlo, bringing together over 200 professionals from the legal and judicial sectors to delve into the complexities of corporate law within the Principality of Monaco. This gathering not only emphasized Monaco's ongoing efforts to prevent financial crimes, including money laundering through opaque corporate structures but also highlighted the Principality's commitment to legal modernization in line with emerging European trends.
During the event, Samuel Vuelta Simon, Monaco’s Director of Judicial Services, underscored the importance of the discussions in the context of the forthcoming legislative updates, notably Monaco’s proposed law n° 1.094 aimed at the modernization of corporate law. The forum also aligned with France’s 2024 “RÉPONDS” initiative led by the University of Paris Panthéon-Assas, reflecting a collaborative approach towards enhancing corporate legal frameworks across borders.
The program featured a series of roundtables with participation from a diverse group of stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, legal experts, and academics. Key topics addressed encompassed the fundamentals of corporate structures, governance, and conflict resolution mechanisms. Notable contributions came from Yves Strickler, IMFPJ’s Scientific Director, and high-profile business leaders such as Stéphane Valeri of Société des Bains de Mer and Philippe Ortelli of the Fédération des Entreprises Monégasques. The forum concluded with a forward-looking discussion on the ongoing reforms in both Monaco and France, demonstrating the Principality's proactive stance on legal innovation and its commitment to maintaining a robust and transparent corporate sector.
