Monaco's Junior Municipal Project (Projet Communal Junior – PCJ) commenced its seventh session with a public meeting on December 17, highlighting the Principality's commitment to fostering civic engagement among its youth. During this session, three student representatives from the prior year's 4ème 12 class at Collège Charles III, now in their final year, presented their innovative proposals to the Municipal Council, utilizing a dynamic new pitch format.
The PCJ, initiated in 2012, offers middle school students a structured two-year program where they can brainstorm, design, and advocate for community-based projects. The first year focuses on idea development and collaboration, while the second year is dedicated to the project's implementation with support from elected officials and Municipal Services. To date, the initiative has involved 120 students and successfully launched 12 projects, such as the Splash Party, Halloween Party, and Street Art Challenge Junior.
Deputy Mayor Chloé Boscagli-Leclercq, the Delegate for Youth, praised the program for its role in building a bridge between the youth, municipal services, and elected officials, creating projects that not only contribute to the community but also instill a deep appreciation for civic participation among young people. The Municipal Council also expressed gratitude towards the students of Collège Charles III and their teacher for their ongoing creativity and commitment to the success of this initiative.
