Monaco Bus Company Alerts Public to Online Scam Offering Fake Passes

Monaco's public transportation authority, CAM, has recently issued a warning about a fraudulent online scheme circulating on social media. A deceptive Facebook page named ‘Monaco public transport subscription’ has been offering non-existent free three-month bus passes to users. The authority clarified that following the page’s links and providing personal or banking information could lead to potential scams, risking private data and financial security.

CAM has advised residents and visitors to use only the official CAM website or the Monapass app for all public transport inquiries and transactions. They have stressed the importance of verifying the authenticity of any promotional offers related to public transportation services in Monaco. For those who may have inadvertently shared their banking details through the scam, CAM recommends contacting their bank immediately to prevent any unauthorized financial activities.

The rise of digital scams targeting daily activities such as commuting highlights the increasing sophistication of online fraudsters. The public is urged to remain vigilant and cautious when engaging with online content and to report suspicious activities to the authorities. This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by cyber threats in our increasingly connected world.
