Monaco-Based Namebay Targeted in Significant Ransomware Cyberattack

On Saturday, September 21, Monaco-based Namebay, a domain registration and web hosting service, experienced a severe ransomware cyberattack. The incident prompted an immediate response with an extensive investigation to ascertain the extent of the data breach. Specialists from CERT cybersecurity and a dedicated crisis management team are now collaborating closely with Namebay's internal security units to hasten the recovery of the compromised services.

The cyberattack has led to significant disruptions in several of Namebay's offerings, including hosted emails, web hosting, and API functionalities. Efforts are currently concentrated on restoring these services, although a definitive timeline for resumption of normal activities remains uncertain. Namebay is actively working to mitigate the impact and restore full functionality to affected systems as swiftly as possible.

Despite these challenges, essential operations such as DNS, domain renewals, and RDAP are still functional, ensuring that critical aspects of Namebay's services remain uninterrupted. Customers retain the ability to register new domains and modify zones through direct contact with the customer service team. Meanwhile, ongoing investigations seek to confirm whether any sensitive data was compromised during the incident. Namebay has pledged to maintain transparency and provide regular updates as they navigate through the resolution process.
