Monaco and Burundi Sign Agreement to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation and Support Initiatives

Monaco has further solidified its international relations by entering into a framework cooperation agreement with Burundi, underscoring a commitment to deepen bilateral ties and enhance collaborative initiatives between the two countries. This agreement is a continuation of Monaco's dedication to fostering development in sectors critical to Burundi's growth such as health, education, and food security. Since 2008, the Principality of Monaco has been an active participant in various developmental programs within Burundi, demonstrating a long-standing partnership aimed at improving the welfare of its citizens.

In a significant move, Monaco has renewed its partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) for an additional three years, a recommitment that coincides with World Food Day. Under this partnership, more than 80,000 children across 100 schools in three different provinces of Burundi will benefit from nutritious meals, which are sourced from local agricultural cooperatives. This initiative not only supports the health of children but also bolsters local farming activities, creating a sustainable impact on the community.

The importance of this cooperation was highlighted during a visit by a Monegasque delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Isabelle Berro Amadeï. This first ministerial-level visit underscored Monaco's ongoing support for Burundi, reinforcing the ties between the two nations. The delegation also visited the Consulate of Monaco in Burundi, marking a milestone in diplomatic relations and emphasizing Monaco's commitment to aiding Burundi’s development and tackling key challenges such as food security.
