The Principality of Monaco has formally established diplomatic relations with the Plurinational State of Bolivia, marking a significant milestone as Monaco's 160th diplomatic partnership. The agreement was officiated on July 26 in New York, with the signing of a joint communiqué by Monaco’s Ambassador H.E. Ms. Isabelle Picco and Bolivian Ambassador H.E. Mr. Diego Pary Rodriguez.
This new diplomatic relationship opens doors to enhanced mutual understanding and cooperation between Monaco and Bolivia, a nation noted for its cultural diversity and multilingualism, recognizing 36 official languages, including widely spoken Quechua. The establishment of these ties is particularly timely as global discussions intensify at the United Nations ahead of its Future Summit and the Compact on the Future negotiations.
During the ceremonial signing, both ambassadors emphasized the importance of cultural richness and multilingualism in fostering international relations and understanding. This initiative underscores Monaco's ongoing commitment to global diplomacy and cultural exchange, reinforcing its position on the international stage.
