Lionel Beffre Assumes Role as Monaco's New Minister of the Interior Following Patrice Cellario's Retirement

Lionel Beffre has assumed the role of Minister of the Interior in Monaco following the retirement of Patrice Cellario, who served the Principality with distinction for 42 years. Beffre’s appointment, effective from Monday, August 5, marks a significant transition within Monaco's governmental structure.

Bringing a robust portfolio of experience, Beffre previously held the position of Chief of Staff for France’s Minister of Overseas Territories and served as Prefect in several French departments including Isère and Seine-et-Marne. His extensive background in public administration is expected to enrich his tenure in Monaco.

The retirement of Patrice Cellario not only concludes an extensive career of dedicated service but also introduces a new chapter of leadership under Beffre. With his comprehensive experience, Beffre is poised to influence Monaco’s internal policies and guide future developments within the Principality’s administration.
