Centre Rainier III Welcomes Sépia, Its First Therapy Dog, Enhancing Patient Care

The Centre Rainier III in Monaco has introduced its first therapy dog, a three-year-old female Labrador named Sépia, to assist in patient care through animal-assisted therapy. Recognized for its therapeutic benefits, this method is integrated into the center's non-pharmacological therapies to help patients express emotions, alleviate stress, and gain comfort from the companionship of an animal.

Sépia underwent an eight-month specialized training program with Chiens Guides d’Aveugle de PACA Corse, in close collaboration with the hospital staff, ensuring a seamless integration into her new role at the facility. The training was meticulous, focusing on maximizing both the welfare of Sépia and the therapeutic outcomes for the patients she would be assisting.

Now a vital part of the team, Sépia participates in both group and individual therapy sessions scheduled during team meetings to optimize her impact. Her presence not only enhances the well-being and comfort of the patients but also contributes to creating a more welcoming and reassuring atmosphere at the Centre Rainier III.
