In a closely fought Ligue 1 encounter, AS Monaco was defeated 2-1 by Lille at the Decathlon Arena – Stade Pierre-Mauroy, despite a spirited comeback attempt before the halftime whistle. The Monegasques, arriving on the back of three consecutive home victories, faced a resilient Lille side that has often proved challenging in their historical matchups, holding an edge in their recent encounters in the North.
The match saw Monaco's tactician, Adi Hütter, deploying a 4-2-3-1 setup, with Mika Biereth spearheading the attack, supported by dynamic midfielders Mohamed Camara and Denis Zakaria. The first half unfolded with high intensity as Lille capitalized on their chances with Haraldsson scoring twice, his second goal doubling the lead shortly before the break. However, Monaco narrowed the margin with Takumi Minamino converting a clever assist from Biereth into a goal during stoppage time, bringing the score to 2-1 and igniting hopes among the traveling supporters.
Despite a vigorous effort in the second half to level the score, including a near miss by Wilfried Singo and a double save by Lille's goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, Monaco could not secure an equalizer. The defeat marks a setback for Monaco as they prepare to return to Stade Louis-II, where they will face Stade de Reims in hopes of reclaiming their winning form.
